Hans Hake (1628 – after 1667) wrote a few dance movements in the tuning c’ f’ a’ e”.
Several composers (Emanuele Barbella, Bartolomeo Campagnoli, Pablo Rosquellas) later wrote for the tuning a d’ f#’ a’ as a way to imitate the sound of a viola d’amore.
Pietro Nardini (1722 – 1793) wrote the Sonate enigmatique for solo violin in c’ f’ a’ e”.
A traditional Norwegian hardanger fiddle tune (an eldgamal springar) is played in the tuning c’ f’ a’ e”. A few Norwegian fiddle players, such as Einar Mjølsnes, Arne M. Sølvberg, Lorentz Hop and Lars Sjervheim, also wrote tunes in the same tuning.
Many tunes in c’ f’ a’ e” are included in Swedish folk music collections such as Svenska Låtar and Folkmusikkommissionens notsamling.
