DUSK TO DAWN
Dusk to Dawn is my debut solo album. It presents a personal revisitation of Irish traditional music, mixing some of my favourite traditional tunes with a few new compositions of mine.
The album is recorded on solo fiddle and hardanger fiddle. Each track is played on a different tuning, creating a unique soundscape for every new piece.
Retuned
Retuned takes shape after a fascinating tradition found in the Valdres region in Norway: naming fiddle tunings after colours of the night sky (for example, “light blue”, “green”, “grey light”).
The performance evokes different soundscapes, emotional paintings through old and new Nordic folk music on the solo fiddle, transitioning from colour to colour, from tuning to tuning.
Whitespace
Whitespace is a concert that explores the hazy lines between old and new, sound and silence, north and south. It presents a very personal revisitation of obscure pieces for solo violin from the baroque period, pieces that I have dug up myself from archives across Europe.
Given new life by reworking them under the lens of the hardanger fiddle, the project is the celebration of a meeting between traditions and personalities. Baroque music meets contemporary composition and Norwegian folk music, bringing renewed light to music that would otherwise remain forgotten.
